For this lesson, students in the 3rd grade class created self-portraits. Students were introduced to the formal concept of portraiture and demonstrated an ability to successfully add all facial features to a self-portrait of themselves.
Thankfully, by the time that the 2nd and 3rd grade classes began their self-portraits the multicultural crayons I ordered were delivered to the school! The crayons seemed to be easier for the students to use when coloring in their self-portraits than the colored pencils that the 2nd/3rd split class had to use.
